CELEBRATE NATIONAL PUBLIC LANDS DAY

at the

COLORADO NATIONAL MONUMENT

 

On Saturday, 29 September 2007, the Colorado National Monument

will host two public events as part of National Public Lands Day.

 

Location:

COLORADO NATIONAL MONUMENT

Rim Rock Drive to the DS Road / Glade Park turn-off from the East Entrance will remain open in both directions for motorized vehicles and cyclists.

Motorized vehicles will not be permitted to continue west on Rim Rock Drive past DS Road / Glade Park turn-off.

Date/Time Information:

8 am - 12 noonWalk, Run or Cycle without Motorized Traffic on Rim Rock Drive

Parking available at the Visitor Center and Saddlehorn Picnic Area for all participants.

No skateboards or inline skating will be permitted during this time.

 

 

12 noonRededication of Newly Reconstructed Rim Rock Drive

The Park will host a Rededication Ceremony and Ribbon Cutting –

to take place at Independence Monument Overlook.

Shuttle buses will be provided from the Visitor Center, from 11:30 to 11:45 am.

 

8 am - 1 pmRoad Closures

Rim Rock Drive from the Visitor Center east to the DS Road / Glade Park turn-off

will be closed to all motorized traffic.

Parking available at the Visitor Center and Saddlehorn Picnic areas.
