Join us for our monthly Coffee Club, this month featuring Janie VanWinkle!

Growing up in the Unaweep Canyon and later on the Dolores River between Gateway and Uravan, she learned about land, livestock and water from an early age while living in very rural areas. Janie and husband, Howard, currently own and manage 550 head of cattle in Mesa County. Working cooperatively with the City of Grand Junction, they lease three ranches owned by the City at Whitewater. They own and manage several other Agricultural properties around the Grand Valley. Howard and Janie are active in the community, both having been 4-H leaders and involved in the program in Mesa County. Janie served on the Grand Junction Area Chamber of Commerce Board for seven years, currently serves Western CO Community College Agriculture Advisory Board, and serves on the Grand Valley Power Board as the Vice-President. She is a Past President of Colorado Cattlemen’s Association, the third woman to lead the 154-year-old organization.

VanWinkle Ranch is a conventional cow/calf producer with cattle moving into the supply chain to ensure that high quality protein is available for all. The Ranch has been committed to their direct-to-consumer marketing quality ground beef since 2017. This provides opportunities to connect directly to consumers/voters and help them put a face to production Agriculture. Food Bank of the Rockies is also a partner with VanWinkle Ranch to provide high quality protein to families that need it. Over 40,000# of ground beef has been sold to the Food Bank of the Rockies at a substantial discount in 2022.
